Bertram Arthur Jenkins was born on June 14, 1946 to the late William Arthur Jenkins and Lillie Rucker Jenkins in Chattanooga, Tennessee, He departed this life on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Hampton, Virginia,

He was a life-long resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee until his health brought him to Hampton, VA to reside with his sister, Willodene Jenkins Scott, He was educated in the Chattanooga Public School System and graduated from Morehouse College, He retired from the Chattanooga Public School System,

He was a dedicated member of the Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he served with the Usher and Trustee Ministries, He was also active in the community and participated with the Chattanooga Choral Society. Additionally, he was a member of the Kappa Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Arthur Jenkins and Lillie Rucker Jenkins,

He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Willodene J, Scott; a nephew, Evan A. Scott (Kimberly), of Fort Collins, CO; a niece, Erika D, Scott, of Hampton, Virginia; a grand nephew, Brandon A. Scott, of Hampton, Virginia; two grand nieces, Maya J, Scott and Delia D, Scott, of Fort Collins, CO; two aunts, Mary B, Tull and Ethel Jenkins, of Chattanooga, Tennessee; cousins, Ruby Frances Jenkins, Michael Allen, Vikki Allen, Valaria Allen, Cheryl Allen, Jennifer Allen Gore, Ramona Rucker Carter, Vanessa Rucker, Llezekiah Rucker, Jr,, Dawn Rucker Jackson, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Hampton Memorial Gardens with Reverend Dr. Joan S. Parrott officiating.
