Leon Joseph Altazan Sr., was 89 years old, a lifelong resident of Port Allen, a U.S. Marine Corps Korean War Veteran and retired State of Louisiana game warden and the Parish of West Baton Rouge. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and cattle farmer until one year ago. Leon was born on March 22, 1934, the youngest of nine children born to Louis H. and Aline Seguin Altazan. He passed away Wednesday, March 29th, at his home, surrounded by his family. Leon is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Debrina Altazan, Ashley Altazan Gautreau and Matthew Gautreau; grandchildren, Erik Medlock and wife Kara, Madisyn Gautreau Smith and husband Josh, and Luke Gautreau; seven great-grandchildren, Braeden Medlock and wifeHattie, Haleigh Medlock, Heidi Medlock Hammontree and husband Kyle, Brennan, Maddox, Brooks and Lillian Medlock. Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Marie Gallaway Altazan; son, Leon Joseph Altazan Jr "Bubbie"; parents, Louis H. and Aline Seguin Altazan; brothers, Ralph, Ernest, Elmo, Norman, Elward, Ferdinand and Emerson Altazan; and a sister, Lois Altazan Stirling. Pallbearers will be Gregg Altazan, Glynn Altazan, Erik Medlock, Matthew Gautreau, Josh Smith, Breaden Medlock, Brennan Medlock and Luke Gautreau. Honorary pallbearers will be Dusty Aguillard and Lester St. Romain.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 5th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port Allen, 10:30 until Mass of Christian burial at 12:00 pm, celebrated by Father Frank Uter. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Brusly.
