Comedian. He was known as "The Duke Of Dirt". He was a regular performer at Thee Doll House III in Pompano Beach since the club's opening in 1985. He also performed regularly at the Cheetah III club in Atlanta, and Solid Gold in Fort Lauderdale, and had appeared on cable television on the Home Box Office, Showtime and Playboy channels. He also made several videos and records. He performed on Hee Haw, and opened dates for Jackie Gleason, Sammy Davis Jr., Tom Jones, Liza Minnelli, Tanya Tucker, Aretha Franklin, Mel Torme, Anita Baker, Lee Greenwood and George Jones. He had been treated twice at the Betty Ford Center and battled back after being declared clinically dead in 1990. He continued performing on a limited basis. He had been in the entertainment business for more than 20 years, starting at age 15 when he won a North Carolina state talent show sponsored, ironically, by the Women's Club of America. The late Gleason saw him perform, and one of "The Great One's" friends quickly hired the unknown comic to perform on cruise ships. He died at his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina of Liver Failure. He was 37.
