George Leroy Beighley, 89, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully in his home on March 27, 2023. He was a fighter to the end.

Born September 19, 1933 to the late Roy and Helen Beighley, in Washington Township, he grew up on "The Beighley Farm" in Camp JoAnn, so farming was in his blood. He loved talking about it, sharing his fruits of labor, and was always proud of his vegetable and flower gardens.

George loved to cook and came up with some wild concoctions, but his recipes were done his way, always with love. He also loved visiting the "Amish Country," as he referred to it, and enjoyed taking friends and family to Smicksburg, showing off the sites and always buying fresh baked goods. For many years he would visit with family on his birthday, to eat and tour around his favorite country town.

He worked for the City of New Kensington in maintenance, and was a landscaper with Wise Nurseries, and on his own.

He leaves beside to mourn his passing his daughter, Sandra Beighley Weaver and her husband, Jack, three grandchildren, Krista, Ashley and Shawn, two great-grandchildren, Sienna and Liam, step-daughter, Natalie Swenson, George's best friend and caregiver, Michelle Hornemann, who took wonderful care of him and with whom he cherished many good times together, and for which our entire family is most grateful.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose and Mary Louise, and his sidekick, his precious dog CoCo.
