Former Carnegie Man Dies Suddenly In Borger Home
Final rites for Sam T. Gifford, 44, were held at the First Baptist church here at 2 p.m. Wednesday and burial was made in the sickles cemetery. Gifford, well known former Carnegie man, died of a sudden illness at his home in Borger, Texas, early Sunday morning. Funeral services were conducted at Borger, Tuesday. Rev. C.N. Price delivered the funeral sermon here.
Mr. and Mrs. Gifford went to Borger in 1936 where he owned and operated a garage.
Mr. Gifford was born in Tolar, Texas, Sept. 18, 1900. He lived most of his life in Caddo county and was married to Miss Ethel Mitchell of the Sickles community. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Preston L. Gifford, U.S. Navy, at Norman, and Buddie Gifford, in the air corps at Mission, Texas.
Other survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Gifford, Hydro; two brothers, Bill Gifford, Lookeba, and Barlow Gifford, Oklahoma City, and four sisters, Mrs. Bill Wilson, Borger; Mrs. Vernon Wilson, Mrs. Henry Smith and Mrs. Stella Alsup, all of Hydro.
Among other relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Niehart of Logan and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Mitchell of Dumas, Tex
