His wife Anjette subsequently murdered (poisoned) their 9 year old daughter Marcia Elaine Lyles, his mother Julia Young Lyles and a second husband. He was the owner of a popular resturaunt in Macon, Georgia at the time of his death. He was a World War II veteran having enlisted on February 3, 1943 in the US Army, and was listed as divorced. He was also survived by his daughter Carla and brother Joe. His father, Ben F. Lyles, Sr. preceded him in death. Ben, Sr. was the son of Robert H. (born in 1862) and Nancy J. Lyles (born in 1889). His siblings were Martha V. Lyles born in 1887; Cary E. Lyles born in 1889; Serman H. Lyles born in 1893; Eoner M Lyles born in 1898; Robert O. Lyles born in 1902; William S. Lyles born in 1903 and Dala R. Lyles born in 1905. He was the beloved father of Ben F. Lyles, Jr. and Joe Lyles.
Note: Ben was originally buried next to his father at Antioch Baptist Church, in Cochran, Bleckley County, but at the death of his daughter Marcia, he was exhumed and buried next to her in April, 1958.
