Alton L. "Hoot" Baker

QUITAQUE - Alton L. "Hoot" Baker, 84, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, in Tulia.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairmont Baptist Church, outside of Quitaque, with Gary Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Grey Mule Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador.

Mr. Baker died late Tuesday evening at the Tulia Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Hoot worked as a pipeline inspector, welder, and a farmer for many years. He was active in the Local Union 792 and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy E. Baker and Artie Gilbert; and a sister, Mollie Jo Timmerman.

Survivors include four sons, Roger Garrett, Alton Leslie Baker Jr., Lonnie D. Baker and Ronnie C. Baker, all of Glen Rose; a daughter, Elaine Evans of Glen Rose; a brother, Pat Baker of Lot; and a sister, Johnnie Pigg of Quitaque.

Viewing and visitation will be at the residence of Mrs. Jack (Johnnie) Pigg until service time today.
