Obituary.
Fraser. Mrs. Mary Fraser, widow of the late Archibald Fraser, of the Scotch Line, who died on Jan. 16, 1846, who came to Perth from Scotland in 1816, was called home to rest on Aug. 15th at the age of 94 years and three months. Three brothers and one sister survive: Messrs. James Holliday, Perth; Isaac Holliday, in N. Dakota when last heard from; and John Calvin Holliday in Brussels, and Margaret (Mrs. Morrison) in Almonte. There are also living three sons and three daughters out of a family of eight: James, in Perth; John, in Spencerville; William, in Illinois; Mrs. Scott [Margaret], in Assiniboia; Mrs. Condie, in Ottawa; and Mrs. Munroe, in Almonte. The family circle of deceased embraced 50 grandchildren and 82 great-grandchildren. Six brothers and four sisters predeceased her in youth: John, William, George, Francis, Davis and James, and Mrs. T. Dobie, Mrs. A. S. Elliott, Misses Elizabeth and Agnes. She was an earnest consistent Christian member of the R. P. Church from her early years until her lifework was closed. One who knew her intimately writes: "She was a bright example of the power of Divine grace; she took the Bible as the man of her counsel; and hence her consistent, godly life. What was said of Dorcas, may well be said of her: 'This woman was full of good works and alms-deeds, which she did'." She lived with her son John, in Spencerville, where she was cared for in the eve of age, until she passed away and was laid in the cemetery there, Aug. 17th. Her funeral was attended by a large circle of relatives and friends, and was conducted by the Rev. P. P. Boyle, of Almonte.
