John Wayne Dodd, age 69, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, November 9th, 2021 at his home. John was born on Monday January 28th, 1952 in Cabot to George and Patsy Burgess Dodd. 

John grew up in Cabot and graduated from Cabot High School in 1970.  John had a long career in law enforcement beginning with the Cabot Police Department in the early 1980's.  He then worked for the Sherwood Police Department from 1985 to 1999 serving as a patrolman, warrant officer, training officer, public information officer, and Sergeant.  John then returned home to the Cabot Police Department where he finished his career in the Criminal Investigation Division as a detective. One of the many highlights of his career earned him a State of Arkansas House of Representatives citation for bravery and heroism for saving the life of a citizen trapped inside a burning house in 1987.

Of all the titles John carried throughout his life, grandfather was his favorite, having been bestowed that honor in 2006 by his only grandchild, Lauren. John was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, calling the Ozark National Forest his home during turkey season.

John was preceded in death by his father, George Dodd and his brother, Mike Dodd.

John is survived by his mother, Patsy Dodd of Cabot; his children, Amy Grammer of Cabot, John Dodd II and his wife Tiffany of Cabot; one grandchild, Lauren Dodd; and a sister, Loretta Johnson and husband Steve of Florida; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 with a memorial service will beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home.
