He was married to Mariah M. Baity (1834-1917).

Again the death angel came to the Baity home and carried another soul to the great beyond when William Baity passed away at his home five miles southwest of Cisco on Friday, May 17, 1907, at 5:30 pm of a complication of diseases. The family has the sympathy of the entire community, this being the third death in the family in the past year. The son departed this life a little more than a week ago.

William J. Baity was born in Rush County, Indiana on March 27, 1834; united in marriage to Mariah M. Wills December 25, 1856; moved to Shelby County, IN in 1857; lived there until 1877, then moved to DeWitt County IL, lived there until a year ago when he moved to Macon County, their present home. To this union seven children were born; three of whom have preceded him to the better world.

He was buried in Croninger Cemetery, Cisco.
