AGED PHYSICIAN OF DAYTON DIES – Dr A. N. Snoddy Passes Away at age of 84 years. - Was Man of Sterling Qualities — Dr A. N. Snoddy, of Dayton, one of the oldest Citizens of Tippecanoe county, died at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, June 12, at the age of 84 years. Dr Snoddy was born April 21, 1834, in Butler county, Ohio. He was the second son of Hon. William J Snoddy, who removed to Tippecanoe county from Ohio with his family in 1834, making his home on a piece of land acquired by entry from the U S Government, two and one-half miles northeast of Dayton. Dr Snoddy first attended school under the instruction of his father, who was one of the first teachers in the township. He subsequently entered Hanover college, at Madison, where he was graduated in 1855. After graduation, Dr Snoddy entered the Ohio Medical college, of Cincinnati, graduating in 1859. He then entered upon the active practice of medicine at Stockwell in partnership with Dr Moses Baker, under the firm name of Baker and Snoddy, which relation existed for a number of years. Upon the death of his father the doctor relinquished his practice of medicine and retired to the home farm and took up the active management of it, to which he has since devoted himself. On July 13, 1859, Dr Snoddy was uni6ed in marriage with Margaret H Seawright, a daughter of the Hon, Wilson R Seawright, of Frankfort, whose death occurred in 1892. Dr Snoddy is survived by two sons and two daughters – Samuel A Snoddy, of West Lafayette; Charles L Snoddy, of Terre Haute; Mrs Edith Davidson of Skamokawa, Washington and Mrs Martha Sharpe, of Dayton, who with her husband, have been residing with the doctor. Five grandchildren also survive. Dr Snoddy in politics was a staunch adherent of the republican party and took a heart interest in national and state affairs. His views on the saloon evil were positive and uncompromising, always ardently advocation national prohibition. His religious belief was in harmony with the creed of the Presbyterian church, in which church at Dayton he has been an elder continuously since 1865. His funeral service will be conducted from this church on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
