Lewis Amundsen, who was born in 1867, came to the Christine area from Lansing, Iowa. He was a blacksmith and married Louisa B. Ruud, who was in business here with her sisters in a millinery and dressmaking shop, in the summer of 1898. The following year, Louisa died. He later married Gina Erickson and they had seven children: Glady (Mrs. Ernest Wicklund), Amelia (Mrs. Leland Wicklund) Gerhard, Torfin, Effie ( Mrs. Ernie Johnson) , Lilian ( Mrs. Frank Erwin) and Doris ( Mrs. LuVerne Wolff). Lewis died in 1945 an his wife in 1948. from pg 28 of "A Centennial History of the City of Christine and Eagle Township, Between Two Rivers, 1884-1983"
