Daniel E. Smalley Dies, Funeral Rites Are To Be Tuesday

Haywood--Daniel E. Smalley, Haywood Star Route, died Sunday in a McAlester hospital after a short illness. He was born May 9, 1889 in Newton Acounty, Ark., and had been a resident of Pittsburg county since statehood. He lived at his present address since 1930. He is survived by six sisters, Mrs. Addie Owens of Ft. Cobb, Mrs. Eva Gyles of Sapulpa, Mrs. Elsie Ratliff, Mrs. Sabie Hamilton and Mrs. Keddie Blevins, all of McAlester; one brother, Ralph Smally, Haywood Star route, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Arpelar church . Rev. Bud White and Rev. J. D. Henson will be in charge and burial will be in the Arpelar Cemetery under the direction of the Mills-Humphrey Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be nephews, William C., Daniel E. and Gene Ratliff, W. E. Blevins Jr., Clayton Burns and Leon Scarbrough. Honorary pallbearers will be B. R. Downs, Rufus Welsh, Mr. Crawford, Guy Dawson, Clifton Horton, Mr. Staples, Lonnie Sherrill, Barney Howell, Claude young, Ellis Turney, Lee McClish, Dee Howell and Elmer Larison.
