Viola Luella Elliott (also known as Lou or Ella) was the daughter of Oliver Elliott and Sarah E. Elder of Carroll County, Missouri. She was five years old when her mother died. On 14 March 1886, Luella married David Edward Philpott in Carroll County. Around 1890, they moved to Adams County, Washington and settled on a farm west of Lind. Luella had six children. She died of complications due to tuberculosis.
