Son of Emmitt Cornwell and Madeline Thompson Higgins. He married Patricia Sue Perkins in Durant Oklahoma on May 20, 1956. Mr. Higgins was a retired major, having served in the US Air Force. He was awarded the Bronze Star in 1970, the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1969, the Air Medal with Oak Leaf cluster in 1969, Combat Readiness Medal in 1969 and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. He served in Vietnam from March of 1969 to February 1970. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, two sons and a sister.
