Mr. Close died Sunday, January 3, at Rideout Hospital. He was 74.
He was born on November 22, 1924, in Red Bluff. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 95 in Santa Rosa and the Ben Ali Shriners of Sacramento.
A resident of Yuba City for seventeen years, he was employed as Highway Maintenance Supervisor for the State of California Department of Highways for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, Wanafay Close of Yuba City; sons William W. Sanders of Yuba City and Armon W. Close II of Grass Valley; daughter, Amanda L. Pearsall of Yuba City; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
