Viola spent her childhood with her uncle Wilbert Redd and aunt Bircha Redd in Dallas, Texas. Viola graduated from Booker T. Washington High School under their care.
Viola gave her life to Christ at an early age. She loved spending time and working in the church throughout her life. Many knew her thru her work with John R. Harmon Funeral Home. She later worked at Brooks Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors until her health failed. Even when she wasn't working, she volunteered until she no longer could. She loved volunteering for different outreach programs and made sure she carried her
grandchildren with her.
Viola was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, grandmother and friend, she always thought of others first,"To know her was to love her"
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius Hudson and Carol Faye Redd, her spouse, A. C. Ates.
Viola Ruth was truly blessed. She departed this life on December 6, 2022 with family beside her.
She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Tina Thompson and son Anthony Lynch. Granddaughter, Takesha Mobley, grandsons, Anthony Lynch, Jr., Rikki Thompson, James Lynch Calvin Lynch, Terel Mapps and Michael Lynch. A host of great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
