SPRING GLEN - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, John Edward Harrington, age 89, passed away peacefully August 15, 2022.
He was born March 5, 1933 in Tyringham, Massachusetts to James Louis and Dora Grover Harrington. Married just one week short of 67 years to Kathleen "Kitty" Keegan in Las Cruces, New Mexico. John and Kitty lived in El Paso, Texas where he worked for Meadow Gold Ice Cream and Rainbow Bread.
John served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He went on 57 missions over North Korea. This earned him the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nation's Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1954, then was in the Air Force reserve for eight more years. He then became employed by White Sands Missile Range as a guard. Within 90 days he was chosen for schooling and a new assignment. He was then transferred to Green River Missile Base in Utah, settling his family in Dragerton (now East Carbon City).
When the Green River Base closed, John transferred to White Sands Satellite Base Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He then applied for overseas employment and was accepted for Germany. John and Kitty moved to Germany where John supervised communications installations on various European bases.

He also participated in the Persian Gulf Escort Service. In 1990, they returned to Utah and John retired in 1992.
For the last 20 years John was known as "The Chair Man" for the beautiful macrame chairs he created for countless people throughout the country. He always had a joke for everyone he met and loved fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He was an avid Cowboys and Jazz fan.
