Private 3952 Manchester Regiment. Enlisted on 26 August 1914, discharged on 25 January 1917 following service in France and Belgium during the First World War. Son of Florence Whitehead, of 38 Library Lane, Oldham. Died from tuberculosis at Westhulme Hospital, age 23.

Accepted as a casualty of war on 9 November 2021, following research by members of the Manchester Regiment Forum and In From the Cold Project. He is now commemorated by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
