Kenneth A. Bartl, 90 of Gwinner, North Dakota died on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at Sandford Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota.

Kenny was born April 2nd, 1932 to Alfred and Bessie (Krchnavy) Bartl on the family farm near Stirum, North Dakota. He graduated from Stirum High School where he enjoyed playing basketball for the Stirum Pirates and, after graduation, entered the U.S. Army serving in South Korea. After returning to North Dakota, he met Ramona Robins and they were married on October 20th, 1957 in Oakes. Kenny and Ramona made their home in Gwinner where they raised their four sons.

Kenny worked for Melroe Manufacturing in Gwinner for nearly 40 years, he was one of the early employees and was very proud of the Bobcat brand and his extensive collection of toy Bobcats are on display at the Sargent County Museum. His passion for antiques and collectibles extended well beyond toys and he was never one to miss a coin show or pass by an antique store without stopping to find the next treasure. Kenny was also active in horseshoes for many decades, participating in local leagues and tournaments and was thrilled when he was elected to the ND Horseshoe Hall of Fame in 2017. Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent much time afield with his boys and grandchildren. Without a doubt, the wildlife in Sargent County breathed a sigh of relief with his passing. Ramona passed away April 10, 2018.

Kenny is survived by four sons, Brad (Donna), Bruce (LeAnn), Rick and Barry; sisters Donna Hammer, Darlene (Lysle) Colemen, Mavis (Glen) Thompson, Connie Johnson, seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his wife Ramona, parents; brother, Larry Bartl and sister Janice Gramlow.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes. His funeral service will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oakes with visitation one hour prior. The family would like you to join them for a luncheon reception following the funeral at 12:30 p.m. at the Springs Country Club in Gwinner. Burial will take place at the Gwinner City Cemetery in May.
