HESSTON -- Lorena Wedel, 89, of rural Hesston, homemaker, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000) at Newton Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 1, 1911, in Ringwood, Okla., to Peter T. and Mary (Thomas) Jantz. She married Howard D. Wedel Sept. 23, 1934, in Hillsboro. He survives of rural Hesston.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School. She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Newton. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.

Survivors (Private)

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frank Jantz, Dick Jantz and Joe Jantz; and one sister, Eva Nickel.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church in Newton with the Revs. Verney Unruh and Wallace Jantz officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorials have been established in support of Sharon Harder serving with the Evangelical Alliance in Bogota Columbia in care of the funeral home.
