Martin was a son of Mr and Mrs Peter Karen Ronning, of Trondhjem, Norway
He married Mona Charlotte MacGregor in 1905
Mona was 1 of 10 children of John Charles MacGregor & Charlotte Perkins, buried Taita.
Mona Charlotte Ronning died 23 Dec 1956

He served as Seaman Private 8/3752 with 11th Reinforcements, Otago Infantry battalion, D Company, NZEF. He embarked 1 April 1916. His next of kin was listed as Miss Mai Ronning (niece), 44 North Spalding Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, USA. He married Mona in 1905, unknown why she was not listed as NOK
He was killed in action at Somme France on 27 Sep 1916
His memorial is at Caterpillar Valley (New Zealand) Memorial
His MEMORIAL is at Taita as he was a resident prior to going to war

Whilst riding along the cycle track at Lower Hutt last month, Mr Ronning, a resident of Taita, ran into a depression on the track and was thrown to the ground, suffering slight injuries to himself and damaging his bicycle.
