Note: The birth date of my grandfather Charles Marion Van Tuyl, as inscribed on his headstone and listed in the following obituary, is incorrect. He was actually born on that same date in 1888 and died at the age of 59.

Charles Marion Van Tuyl, 61, widely known farmer and trader living seven miles west of Wagoner, died Tuesday, July 8, 1947, in Wagoner following a heart attack. Funeral services for Mr. Van Tuyl will be held Friday afternoon at the home with burial in Wagoner's Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Green Funeral Home.

Mr. Van Tuyl was born May 10, 1886, in Marion County, Kansas, the son of Jonathan Van Tuyl and Celia E. (Elliott) Van Tuyl. He is survived by his wife, Florence (Cook) Van Tuyl; five sons, Ira of Evansville, Indiana, Alfred of Grayville, Illinois, Jay, Paul and Donald, all of Tulsa; three daughters, Mrs. Olla Mae Satterfield of Coweta, Mrs. Helen Easley of Coweta and Mrs. Celia Workman of Van Nuys, California; and 13 grandchildren.
