OBITUARY
MR. FRED. PICKER
After leaving hospital only a few days previously the death of Mr. Fred. Picker, at his home, "Sunnyview," Bigga, on Monday week, came as a shock to his family and friends.
The late Mr. Picker had spent nine weeks in the Crookwell District hospital, and it was thought he was much improved in health when he was discharged only a few days prior to his death.
Born at Markdale, deceased was 76 years of age and was one of a family of ten, of whom only three brothers, Ben, Sid and Dick, are living. The late Mr. Picker, who was one of the pioneers of the Bigga — Markdale districts, had been a grazier all his life, and was renowned for his neighbourly qualities and a loyal friendship. He was of the robust type — typical of the pioneer of the land — and had never been a patient in a hospital until his admittance a few weeks prior to his death.
Deceased's father came out from England one hundred years ago this year, at the age of 15, and was one of the earliest pioneers of the Bigga district.
In addition to his widow, Adeline Amelia, the late Mr. Picker is survived by two sons, Morton and Harold, to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends is extended.
After a service in the Bigga Church of England, the funeral moved to the Bigga Cemetery on Tuesday, 27th June, where the Rev. T. H. Pickburn performed the last sad rites.
Funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. T. E. Kennedy, & Son, of Crookwell.
