John Cleveland Abbey was born in Boulder, Linn, Iowa on March 21, 1873. He is a descendent of John Abbe from the MAYFLOWER.
He served in the Spanish Amer War and was stationed in the Philippines in 1900. He was injured in the war and hospitalized twice.
He moved to Anaheim, Ca. in the 1880's.
He took care of his sisters after their parents died.
He became a gold miner in 1910 and moved to Ione mining camp in Nye county Nevada.
He registered for the draft in WWI.
He was hospitalized in the veteran's home in Los Angeles in 1926 due to bad health.
His sisters were Stella Abbey/Hatfield, Julie M. Abbey/Ingram,
Cynthia P. Abbey/Monroe.
