OBITUARY FOR JESSE WILLARD MAUCK, JR.
Jess Willard Mauck, Jr., 78, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at home under the care of Hospice.
Born July 3, 1944, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Jesse Willard Mauck, Sr. and Edith Melvina McGraw Mauck.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1962, in Washington, D.C., where he was a member of the ROTC programs Pistol and Rifle Team. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from September 1964-August 1968 where he earned the rank of QM2 and competed on the Coast Guard Pistol Team. He attended Shepherd College.
He was employed by Western Electric, B&O Signal Corps, and was a Master Electrician for Corning Glass from 1972-2000, and owned Silver Age Services, 1996-2015, Crim Dela Crim, 2001-2017, and Midtown Auction, where he was an auctioneer.
Jess was a lifetime member of the NRA and The Izaak Walton, a member of the Berkeley County Committee of Juvenile Justice from 1976-1980, Board of Education from 1988-1994, where he was active in school designs and saved the smokestack at Martinsburg High School and added short windows to Tomahawk School.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine C. Mauck; and one brother, Kenny Mauck and wife Robin of Martinsburg; brother in law, David Gray; sister in law, Mary Rebecca Gray-Schaff (Tracy); as well as numerous cousins.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Lynn Wilson officiating from Calvary United Methodist Church.
A military graveside service will be held in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
