Chef. He was best known to both Japanese and American television viewers as the Iron Chef Chinese on the popular television series "Iron Chef" from 1993 to 1999. He was the son of Kenmin Chen, who was known as the "father" of Sichuan cuisine in Japan. In the early 1990s, he accepted the position of Iron Chef Chinese on the Fuji Television series "Iron Chef" and went on to appear throughout the series' run from 1993 to 1999, also occasional "Iron Chef" specials from 2000 to 2002. During the series' run, he won 67 cooking matches, lost 22, and tied in three. Besides appearing on the series, he ran several restaurants throughout Japan. He passed away of interstitial lung disease.
