Obituary for James William Genes
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of James William Genes of Waggaman, LA, on January 14, 2023, at the age of 81.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jo Ann (Chessor) Genes, two daughters, Lisa (Steven) Genes-Heisler of New Jersey, Kristina Genes-Shane of Georgia, son, John Genes of Ohio, seven grandchildren, Joshua, Marlena, and Jarrod Buonanno, James, Samantha, and Alexandra Adams, and Julianna (Jean) Moreas, his sister Kleo's children/grandchildren, Patricia Osgerby (Randal deceased), Susan Becker (Neal), Mark Gecsey (Sharon) and sons, Galvin and Liam, and William Gecsey (Maureen) and daughters, Julianna, Clarissa, and Ava, as well as two sister in-laws, ten nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and many friends (Best friend Jim) and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kleo (William) Gescey, his mother-in-law, Anna (Elmer) Chessor, one grandson Aaron Buonanno, and a brother-in-law Elmer Chessor, Jr.

Jim (aka Billy, Bill, John) was born to Demetreos (James) Gust and Dorothy (Allaben) Genes. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1959. He served 10 years in the Navy and went on to earn his degree in drafting. He worked for Louisiana Power and Light for 17 years and for PHS Industries/Carpenter & Paterson, Inc. for 26 years. He retired in 2022 for a little over 6 months and then went back to work as he loved his job very much. He was a great man of faith and always loved helping others. Everyone that knew him, loved him.

A private service will be held at the family's request. Mothe Funeral Homes helped the family with arrangements and services were held at Church of God, Ministries International and lead by Jim's longtime pastor and friend, Tom (Audrey) Kerry.
