Following graduation, he worked as a copy writer with several companies prior to writing his first novel commercially-successful novel "The Bastard" (1974) from the "Kent Family Chronicles" series. This was followed with "The Rebels" (1975) and "The Seekers" (1975), all of which were made into TV adaptations. In addition to writing, he both acted and directed stage productions. During the course of his career, he penned roughly fifty books.
