Although there doesn't appear to be an inscribed grave monument evident for this individual at Magnolia, he is presumed to be interred there. His wife, her sister, and his brother all have marked graves there. Robert was apparently not taken back to Columbus, Geo., for burial with his infant son ~ who is in the same lot with Robert's mother, Mrs. Clara (Meigs) Forsyth ~ as Robert doesn't appear in the sexton records for Linwood Cemetery.
1860 census, City Ward 4 in Mobile, Mobile Co., Ala., dwelling 302, household 292 (all Forsyth, all born in Geo.) ~ Robert C. (34) clerk, Julia (34), John (6), +Virginia H. (4), Angela (2), and infant (female 1 month = Maggie?). (+I suspect that Virginia H. is the same as Jennie Forsyth; not present in the 1870 census household, so probably deceased by that time .)
Despite Col. Forsyth's having died prior to Census Day (June 1, 1870), he is included on the 1870 census of Mobile, Mobile Co., Ala., dwelling 131, household 144 (enumerated June 10, 1870), listed as though living with his widow and children, who are among a group of persons boarding with a woman named Mary Ables: Ro[bt] Forsyth (35 Geo) Clerk in Newspaper (no real estate or personal estate value reported), Julia Forsyth (25 Ala. - sic, aged 45 years?) boarding, Angeline Forsyth (12 Ala.), Maggie Forsyth (9 Ala.), and Jno. Forsyth (6 Ala. - sic, aged 16 years?).
