Born in Dinklage which is a town in the district of Vechta, in Lower Saxony, Germany and died of pneumonia(according to cemetery).

According to the book entitled "Covington's German Heritage, pg 96," Hermann was a founding member of the "German Pioneer Society 1877". Hermann immigrated to the USA in 1849.
