He was a proud graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. Gene was a huge fan of football and baseball. He loved to cheer on the Eagles tailgating at the football games and watching USM baseball from the Roost. He was also a hardcore Saints fan and a lifetime supporter of National League Baseball. He loved taking his dog to the park, watching old western movies, listening to his rock n roll music and had a talent for making the best pancakes. Gene happily shared his love of God with others and was proud of his Catholic faith. He was a friend to everyone, a prankster at heart and always had a funny joke or story to share.
Gene was preceded in his death by the love of his life, his wife, Angie Box; his father, Kenneth Box; and his mother, Betty Box.
He is survived by his daughters, Amanda (Todd) Steele and Stephanie Box; his sister, Patrice Box; his brother, Doug (Gwen) Box; his stepmother, Gwen Box; and granddaughter, Maren.
