He was born March 30, 1970 in Bath County, a son of Herbert Franklin "Frankie" and Ella Mae (Ryder) Rexrode of Warm Springs.
An outdoorsman, J.R. loved fishing, boating, and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He was always so full of life and the life of the party. J.R. was an amazing and hardworking carpenter, and could build an entire house by hand. Additionally, he was a caring man, who was always willing to give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. Above all, he will be remembered as the greatest daddy, there could ever be – "there was nothing in this world he wouldn't do for his children and grandchildren."
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two daughters, Autumn Leigh Powell and husband, Andrew and Ashley Renee Rexrode and Joseph Turicik, all of Waynesboro; step-children, who he considered his own, Tiffany and Jeffrey Rimmer and Erica Bagby; six grandchildren, Raelynn Nikole, Derrick Deon, Audree Leigh, Adrianna Marie, Joseph Matthew and Emmet Cole; a sister, Lori Altizer and Scott Carpenter of Warm Springs; niece, Savannah Altizer of Warm Springs; nephew, Jake Altizer of Warm Springs; as well as many friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
