Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at an 11:00 AM Service at La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Albert James "Jimmy" Barras, age 96, who died at 3:10 AM on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Deacon Cody Miller will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Marie Barras; his companion and caregiver, Ronald Primeaux and numerous aunts and uncles.
Jimmy Barras was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He retired with Abdalla's in the Oil Center after 40 years of service as a shoe salesman.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the team members of Saint Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion during Jimmy's residency.
