Carolyn Joyce Adams-Armstrong, 90, passed away on March 10, 2023. She was born on April 19, 1932, to James and Mary (Hinton) Gilbert. She married Adrian Adams and raised a family of eight children. Her family was the focal point of her life. She was a central presence in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After Adrian's untimely passing, she married Delmar Armstrong in 1983. Carolyn worked for a number of years at Indiana Glass. She also owned the Dairy Yum, which she and Adrian owned and operated as a family business. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family. Carolyn is survived by her husband Delmar; five daughters: Teresa Sain, Joyce Boggs (husband Pat), Joella Goen (husband Steve), Teri Johnk (husband Steve), and Denna Sumwalt (husband Larry); her sister-in-law Kay Gilbert; and her special cousin Jan Jameson. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and countless other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Adrian; and three sons: Robert Adams, Danny Adams, and Stacy Todd Adams. Also preceding her in death were five siblings: Mary Johnson, Barbara Stapleton, Beverly Gilbert, Larry Gilbert, and Terry Gilbert. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on March 17, 2023, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EverHeart Hospice. The family wishes to extend its gratitude to the nurses and aides of EverHeart Hospice for the care they provided to Carolyn over the last several weeks. Time and again throughout her life, she found refuge in her faith. Her favorite Scripture was Psalm 23. She would urge the many people who mourn her passing to remember the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." Arrangements have been entrusted to MJS Mortuaries.
