Actor. He was known for starring as the title character in the 1960 film "Macario," the first Mexican film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He acted in about 50 films, being nominated three times for the Ariel Awards for the films "Rapiña," "El profeta Mimí" and "Rosa Blanca," winning the last one. In addition, he acted in theater and television, starring several telenovelas such as "El derecho de nacer," "Senda de gloria," and "Ángeles blancos." He won the TVyNovelas Award for Best First Actor three times, for the telenovelas "Imperio de cristal," "Esmeralda" and "De pocas, pocas pulgas," and for his career, he received the Ariel de Oro in 2007.
