Politician. Tanır served as the Turkish minister of health from 1973 to 1974 and again in 1977. He also served as the minister of public works from 1974 to 1975, minister of national defense from 1995 to 1996, and the minister of forestry from 1991 to 1993. Tanır was a member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly representing Konya for the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 18th, and 19th terms. A graduate of the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, he worked as a freelance physician in the 1980s and was a founding member of the True Path Party in 1983.
