For fifteen-seasons (1963 to 1975 and 1978 to 1979), he played at the outfielder position with the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, New York Mets and Houston Astros. Born Jesus Maria Rojas Alou, the younger brother of former Major League players Felipe and Matty, the trio made history on September 10th, 1963, when all three siblings batted in the same inning, in addition to making up San Francisco's entire outfield days later. Signed as an amateur free agent by the San Francisco Giants in 1958, he made his Major League debut on September 10, 1963 and played in 16 games that year. He experienced two world championships with the Oakland Athletics (1973 and 1974) and played in a total 8 World Series contests. In 1,380 career regular season games, he compiled 1,216 hits with a .280 lifetime batting average. After retiring as a player, he served as a scout with the Montreal Expos and was director of the Boston Red Sox Dominican Academy.
