Funeral services have been set Friday for 76-year old Carl Sykes of Decatur, who for years was an operator of Sykes Funeral Home.
The Morgan County native, who died Tuesday in a local nursing home, was a pioneer in burial insurance in Alabama. He was a member of First Baptist Church, a Masonic Lodge in Trinity, and other organizations.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. At First Baptist Church, Rev. John Ewing officiating, with burial in Sykes Cemetery. Huggins Funeral Home Directing.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Eunicetine Sykes Adams, Charlotte; and two brothers, Melvin Sykes, Decatur, and Dr. Frank Sykes, Baltimore.
The family request any memorials be made to the form of contributions to favorite charities.
The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before services.
