Funeral services for E. P. Abney, 79, retired L & N Railroad watchman, were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. B. L. Cox, pastor of Fairfax Church of Christ. Burial was in the Winchester Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert A. Abney, Shirley Abney, Hobert M. Abney, Randall Estes, Leon Chamberlain and Wayne Stone. Mr. Abney, a native of Estill County, died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Hospital, following a long illness. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Sanford and Martha Tipton Abney. Survivors include five sons, Hobert Abney, Phoenix, Ariz.; Edgar Abney, Hamilton, Ohio; Austin and Howard Abney, Cincinnati, and Aster Abney, Dayton, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Estes, Winchester, and Mrs. Geneva Metcalf, Clay County; two brothers, Joe Abney, Powell County, and Green Abney, Peebles, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. L. P. Hamilton, Richmond, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
