Mr. Myers was born Feb. 3, 1918, at Miami, OK, to Henry Myers and Eva (Briggs) Myers. He was a graduate of Afton High School. Mr. Myers was a veteran, having served in the US Navy. He had served as an Ottawa County Commissioner for twenty years, retiring from that vocation. He then became a fishing guide for twenty years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Afton. He married Esther L. Brown, June 20, 1940, at Afton. She preceded him in 2002.
He is survived by a son and his wife, Bill and Lupe Myers of Greenwood, AR., a daughter and her husband, Suzanne and Mike Brasher of Greenwood, AR., a brother and his wife, Leo and Betty Myers of Coffeyville, KS., five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a granddaughter, Kelly Marie Myers, a grandson, Nathan Brasher, three brothers, Otho Myers, Cletus Myers, and Norman Myers, and two infant sisters.
A funeral will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at First Christian Church in Afton, with Minister Lee Williams officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Lawson, Bob Westmoreland, Lee Jeffery, Curt Myers, Ned Myers, and Carlos Estrella. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Afton.
A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Adcock Funeral Home in Afton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the American Cancer Association, in care of the funeral home.
