Linville "Lin" Ray Sadler
August 9, 1930 - March 1, 2023

Linville "Lin" Ray Sadler, 92 of Falmouth, passed away on March 1, 2023 in Falmouth at his home. He was born to Adam L. and Mary F. (Wesley) Sadler. Lin was born at home in Henry County on U.S. 40 between Lewisville and Dunreith.

In later years the owner of the house decided to remove the house, discovered it to be a log cabin, moved it to Conner Prairie and rebuilt it. It now is the house of the Blacksmith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Leona Jaggers) Sadler; sisters Maureen (Charles) Lewman of Dublin, IN Opal (Dale) Hathaway of Deshler, OH, Christina (James Nixon, Harold) Barber of Raleigh, IN; brothers, Clyde (Martha) Sadler of Falmouth, IN, Clifton "Tip" (Virginia, Faith) Sadler of Rushville, IN.

Lin graduated from Raleigh High School in 1948. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy served in 1949 and 1950. He then joined the organized Navy Reserve and served from 1949 to 1990. He retired as Chief Warrant Officer.

Lin farmed most of his life with his father and sons east of Raleigh. He shelled his last field of corn at the age of 92. Lin began working for the Indiana Department of Transportation in 1953 and retired in 1995. Although never attending college, Lin passed his engineering exam in 1968. After receiving his Civil Engineer license he served as Greenfield District Traffic Engineer, Greenfield District Engineer and Chief of the Division of Location and Environment.

Lin is survived by his wife, Judy (Apple Kiger) Sadler, sons, Lyle (close friend Lana Podoranova) Sadler of Falmouth, IN, Leslie (Jody) Sadler of Plymouth, IN , and Lex Sadler of Lakeville, IN; step-sons, Brian (Debbie) Kiger of McKinney, TX, Brent (Shannan) Kiger of Plainfield, IL, Brandon (Deepa) of Lakewood, Co; step-daughter, Bridget (Josh) Lee of Mt. Lebanon, PA. He is also survived by his 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Lin belonged to Spiceland Friends Church (formerly at Plum Creek Christian Church, served as Elder), Lewisville Masonic Lodge (formerly at Raleigh Masonic Lodge, served as Worshipful Master, New Castle Order of Eastern Star (formerly at Raleigh Order of the Eastern Star, served as Worthy Patron), Rushville Elks Lodge and served on the Advisory Board of Dunn Mental Health at Richmond, IN.

Services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 10 AM in Moster Mortuary, with Pastor David Brock presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 2PM-6PM on Sunday, March 5, 2023 in the mortuary. Burial will be held on Raleigh Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Spiceland Friends Church.
