He was a longtime member of Resurrection Catholic Church. Barry enjoyed playing bingo, reading the sports page, working the daily puzzle in the paper, and was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana University basketball. He was the 1971 poster child for Easter Seals and loved making and giving away star ornaments. Despite all of his challenges, Barry made friends wherever he went, always had a smile on his face and treasured his family above all.
Surviving Barry are his mother, Beatrice "Betty" (Konrad) Schenk; sisters, Deanna Pfeffer, Phyllis Fetcher, Rita (John) Heldt, Joann (Jeff) Steffen, and Mary (Perry) DeWeese; brothers, Gary (Marsha) Schenk, Jim (Martha) Schenk, Greg (Debbie) Schenk, David Schenk, and Ken (Pam) Schenk; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Barry was preceded in death by a sister, Priscilla Schenk; by a brother, Donald Schenk and brothers-in-law, Keith Fetcher and Leo Pfeffer.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Rev. Jerry Pratt officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday where there will be a memorial service held at 6:00 PM and from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 5301 New Harmony Road, Evansville
