Virginia Rae Burgess Nadeau, longtime resident of Perry, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, 1 Feb 2023. Services will be held on Monday, 6 Feb 2023, at First Baptist Church of Perry. The Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the Funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Larry Wood officiating. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.

She had recently celebrated her 95th birthday, a milestone that she found amazing, because she had seen so many historic events during her life. Born in Oklahoma in 1927, her family moved to Alpine, Texas, where she grew up raising cattle and riding horses. In the 1950's, her family moved to Georgia just as she was a young adult. She soon met her future husband, Joe Nadeau, in Atlanta, and their marriage lasted until his passing in 2017. She raised three sons and could always be seen at their school events, bringing snacks or simply being a vocal supporter. For years, she was a fixture in the second pew at First Baptist Church of Perry every Sunday. She loved the opportunity to prepare meals for various groups, happy to contribute in any way she could.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Gladys Burgess; and five siblings, all of whom she loved and missed very much. She was also predeceased by her husband of sixty-three years, Joseph Nadeau, Sr., and her youngest son, Charles Nadeau.

She is survived by two sons, Joe Nadeau Jr. (Karen) of Buford, GA, and Jim Nadeau (Sheree) of Bonaire, GA. Not surprisingly, she delighted in her four grandchildren, Zack, Caitlin, Sheridan, and Logan; and one great-grandson, Caden.

She loved her many nieces and nephews because they reminded her of her own sisters and brother. She also loved the Dallas Cowboys, her blueberry bushes, and colorful flowers. She supported many causes that captured her heart. She couldn't help but send five or ten dollars to many groups. Some of her favorites included those that benefited Native American children. She said she didn't want to be "greedy", because she felt she had enough to share and help others. Words cannot express how much she will be missed. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com . Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
