"Sep. 29, 1938-The Cooperton community was saddened by the death of one of its pioneers, S.P. Callen. Surviving him are seven children, Mack, Claud, and James of this community, Mrs. Grace Goldsberry, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Effie Dierlam, Corpus Christi, Tex., Thomas and Bert, Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services for Mr. Callen were conducted last Wednesday afternoon from the high school auditorium. Burial was made in Springhill cemetery under the direction of the Brown funeral home, Roosevelt."
