Dessie Allison, 85, church member
East Liverpool -- Services are planned Friday for Mrs. Dessie Allison, 85, of Huston Road, who died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 1, 1992, at the Robert E. Boyce Pavilion in City Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 22, 1906, in St. Mary's, W. Va., a daughter of the late James Bowers and Rachel Oliver Bowers. Mrs. Allison was a member of the Campground Community Church and its church band. Her husband, Jonathan Ralph Allison, whom she married Feb. 22, 1922, and a son, William Lyle Allison, preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Ralph Allison, Jr. of St. Marys and Blaine Allison and Clarence Allison of Newell; three daughters, Marguerite Sfakis and Louise Britt of East Liverpool and Katherine Rennix of Newell; two brothers, Gary Bowers of Sistersville, W. Va., and Bud Bowers of New Matamoras, W. Va., two sisters, Viola (Mrs. Richard) Martin and Ruth (Mrs. Gail) Ferrell of Sistersville; 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and a great - great - grandchild. The Rev. Terry Smith, chaplain at City Hospital, is to conduct the services at 1 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial is to be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
