This is a picture of my Great, Great Grandparents Dowda's on the far right. My Great Grandmother Idella Mary "Dowda" Callen) is not in this photo as she had already left home and married my Great Grandfather Socrates Plato (Crat) Callen in Jan. 1894 at Cordell, OK after meeting her when she was 14 yrs old when he spent the night in there home. He asked for her hand the very next morning, talk about love at first sight! This land was homesteaded by Shelby Dowda in 1901, he died and then his parents the Dowda's moved from Washita Co down to take it over. Shelby is buried on this place which is just south of where Elana and Robert Johnston lived (the West Place). Crat and Idella came down from Bessie, Washita Co to visit her parents and found the North Place (farm north of where Ned Callen lives now) for sale and they bought it and moved down in 1907.
