William Wilson Bragg was born in Iowa. Both of his parents were born in Ohio. It is not known when he emigrated to Colorado, but it was there he met and married Mamie Ellen McCarthy in Fruita, Colorado. He and his wife, along with her brother, William, "Willie" McCarthy homesteaded 320 acres, 160 acres each, in the Bookcliff mountains north of Fruita. William patented their claim to 160 acres on the 30 November, 1920. William still lived there during the 1920 census but moved into Fruita sometime after the census. William and Mamie Bragg's place became part of the Cuddy Ranch in the mid 1920's after Mamie's death.
