Yvonne Bagby Atkins, age 88, passed away on February 17, 2023. She was a native of Atlanta, Georgia and also resided in Kenner, Louisiana and Carriere, Mississippi before relocating to Slidell, Louisiana. Yvonne leaves behind three daughters to cherish her memory, Jillann Atkins Taquino, Julie Atkins Puchot, and Jennifer Atkins Hambrice; five grandchildren, Cory Jacob Clutter, Chloe Joyce Clutter, Maureen Yvonne Taquino, Jenny Rebecca Puchot, and Katie Lynn Puchot; one great-grandson, Casper James Clutter; and a host of extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Charles Atkins; her parents, Allyne Pace Bagby and Hill Jefferson Bagby; and a sister, Thelma Bagby Buice.
After graduating from The Harrison-Draughon School of Commerce in Atlanta, Georgia in 1951, Yvonne began a long career with Delta Airlines. She started as a secretary working at the airport in Atlanta and advanced to become the first female Executive Vice President of the New Orleans Ticket Office. She was also a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed traveling in her spare time. Yvonne was an animal lover and cared for many dogs and cats. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Yvonne's life on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell. A graveside service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Carmel Church Cemetery in Mansfield, Georgia. J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
