Lola Lucille Gordon, Gettysburg, was born Nov. 28, 1917 to Albert and Arlie (Rilling) Gordon on a farm near Agar. She was raised and educated in the Agar, Pierre and Forest City area.

Lola married Russell C. Maroney on March 2, 1936 in Faulkton. Following their marriage, they made their home on farms in the Lebanon and Gettysburg area.

In 1959, they moved into Gettysburg and purchased the Buster Larson home where they remained until 1993. Lola worked at the Ben Franklin Store for many years. In November 1993, she and her husband moved into the Oahe Villa in Gettysburg.

After the death of her husband in 1995, she remained at the Oahe Villa until moving into the Selby Good Samaritan Center on July 1, 1998. She passed away there on Feb. 12, 2008 at the age of 90.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, former member of the Gettysburg Country Club, and Medicine Rock Senior Citizen's Center. She loved to play cards with relatives and friends.

Survivors include two sons, Dean and Judy (Shoup) Maroney, Gettysburg, Gary Maroney, Lebanon; a daughter, Carol and Gary Fahrni, Selby, a sister, Agnes Cooper, Gillette, Wyo., 10 grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson in 1973, a son in 2007, a daughter-in-law in 2004, three sisters and three brothers.

The funeral for Lola was Saturday, Feb. 16, at the United Methodist Church in Selby.

Casketbearers were Rod Maroney, Reed Maroney, Chad Fahrni, Burt Maroney, Mike Maroney and Tyler Maroney.

Burial was at the Gettysburg Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
